The Research Committee of the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy of NPP (TESCON) of the University for Development Studies (UDS) has donated items worth GH1000.00 to the Northern
Youth for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo(NAYONA) at Bongo in the Upper East Region.
The items were 200 T-shirts and 500 Ghana cedis for the running of NAYONA, a youth club in support of Nana Addo.
The Chairman of the Committee, Mr Jonathan Abugre, who presented the items, said the donation was to foster unity among party members in the area and prepare the party for victory in the 2012 election.
Mr Abugre said unity was paramount to the development of the party and called on the regional and national executives to portray unity for the party faithful to emulate.
He identified the district as one of the poorest in the region and said poverty reduction in the district would require the commitment of the youth to work.
He indicated that since farming was the indigenous occupation in the area, it would be appropriate if attention was focused on that.
Mr Abugre called on the youth to be up and doing since they were the future leaders of the Bongo Community.
Mr Samuel Akamelom, President of NAYONA, lamented the mass migration of the youth from the area to southern Ghana in search of non existing jobs.
He called on the district assembly to institute pragmatic measures to curb the menace adding that the youth who moved out to the cities went back home losing almost all the moral values of the community.
Mr Akamelom called on traditional rulers and parents to educate the youth on the dangers of travelling to the cities unprepared.
Mr Peter Ayamga Ayambisa, Constituency Chairman of NPP, appealed to the national executives of the party to provide office accommodation for the constituency.
