Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has arrived in Johannesburg for the 14th Africa Highway conference in Rhodes University, Grahamstown.
The Highway conference is the largest gathering of African journalists and has become a centre of deliberation on the way forward for journalism, the media and information communication technology in Africa.
This year's conference under the theme: "African Voices in the Global Media Space" will among other things see the launching of a toolkit for African Education and Communication Experts on
Education in Africa by former President Kufuor.
The toolkit has been published for the training of journalists and other media practitioners covering educational issues in Africa.
The conference will also launch the Africa Education Journalism Award to recognize the best articles on education published in the African press.
President Kufuor who will be Guest of Honour at the conference will speak on: 'African Media and Global Development Agenda.'
A dinner will also be held in honour of former President Kufuor to round off the conference which will feature veteran South African anti-apartheid campaigner, Bishop Desmond Tutu, Professor Adam Clayton, Vice Provost for Globalization at the University of Southern
Carolina, USA and Dr Diana Senghor a co-founder and Director of PANOS Institute, the first independent international news agency and training centre in sub-Saharan Africa.
