A Palestinian was killed and three others were wounded Saturday when a leftover ordnance from previous Israeli shelling exploded in eastern Gaza City, witnesses and hospital officials said.
Israel Radio and Hamas' Al-Aqsa satellite channel reported initially that the explosion was a result of Israeli tank fire, but other sources told Xinhua that an explosive device went off near the four people, killing one of them. Two of the wounded received serious injuries.
The Israeli army had no immediate comment on the incident, which comes in a period of relative calmness after Gaza's Hamas rulers persuaded smaller armed groups to cease rocket fire against Israel.
