Madam Elizabeth Oye Opare, Assembly member-elect for Anum Apapam Electoral Area has thanked the people for electing her as the first assemblywoman for the area.
“I would not disappoint you for the confidence reposed in me”, she told the locals who had gathered in the town centre to celebrate her victory.
Madam Opare, 57, said she would empower the people especially, women in through economic activities to become self-reliant.
She asked the people to support her by bringing on board their development needs which she would champion at the assembly sessions and lobby for help for the progress of the area.
The communities which form the electoral area are; Anum Apapam, Asuogya, Mfrano, CMB ‘A’ and CMB ‘B’, Bella Temporal Boot and Obuoho, all in the Eastern Region.
Madam Opare won the election by beating her fellow contestant, Mr Stephen Bekoe. She gathered 492 votes as against 421.
