An MP and two other politicians from the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu were on Tuesday deported by Sri Lankan immigration authorities as they landed here to attend the funeral of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran's mother, who died on Sunday.
Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader and Member of Parliament Thol Thirumavalan and others were deported back to India from the international airport here.
"They have been deported upon their arrival," former Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MP M K Sivajilingam told PTI. It was not clear who are the other two leaders.
"They (airport officials) didn't give any reasons for the deportation" he said.
Velupillai Parvathipillai (81), the mother of Prabhakaran, passed away on Sunday after prolonged illness at a government hospital in northern Sri Lanka.
