For him, the move was a step in the right direction, saying he was looking forward to working with leadership of the GFA who had neglected his outfit in their activities over the years.

 “About eight months ago we had a discussion with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports and Culture and they insisted that the FA should report to the Director General of the NSA but that didn’t take place so I think the minister has stated it right”.

“All over the world all federations are under one entity which is the sports authority. So he is talking about the law, that anything that goes to the ministry must be scrutinised first by the NSA so that the conflict that existed between the immediate past minister, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, and the FA will be avoided”, he added.

According to Mr Acquaye the minister spoke appropriately at the vetting, considering the plans he had to reintroduce the inter-district, regional and National Unity Games, as well as his vision to create a sports fund, among others.

The former swimmer, who was confident that the new minister will be successful in his new office with the requisite resources, noted that it was high time Ghana focused on using sports as a tool for national development.

“I have the confidence, determination and that courage that he will live up to expectation because he had been a ranking member for sports in Parliament so he has experience. Even the way he answered the questions show that he is on top of issues”, he concluded.
