Muntari suffered racial insults from Cagliari fans while in action for Pescara in a Serie A match last week.

The former Inter Milan and AC Milan forward walked off the pitch after he was booked by the referee for dissent following persistent complaints about being racially abused by Cagliari fans.

The Ghanaian international was bizarrely handed a match suspension by the Italian football Disciplinary Commission. But the suspension was overturned last Saturday following outrage by players and groups, including football’s world governing body, FIFA, and the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Commission.

The decision to suspend Muntari was widely criticised, with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and some former and present Black Stars players offering support to Muntari and calling for the suspension to be rescinded.  The GFA revealed through its official twitter handle that it had made contact with the Muntari and were in serious discussions with the right authorities to find an amicable solution to racism.
