England one-day captain Eoin Morgan says he is "delighted" after deciding to keep playing at least until the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia next year.
Morgan, 33, led England to victory at the 50-over World Cup in July but had not spelt out his future plans.
He now says he will lead England at the T20 World Cup in October 2020 and then decide if he wants to continue.
"I am very comfortable with decision," Morgan told BBC Test Match Special.
"I am delighted to have made it. I feel it is the right one for myself and the team."
Morgan has a history of back problems and said in August he wanted to carry on if his back allowed him to do so - but that he needed "more time to think".
He has confirmed his plans before England's five-match T20 series against New Zealand, which starts on Friday in Christchurch.
"I won't say I'll be finished after the next World Cup as I'd be afraid I'll only creep over the line and maybe fall off," he said.
"I don't want to let anyone down. I want to drive through the World Cup in Australia and then make a call after that."
Asked whether he considered retiring after the summer's historic home World Cup victory over New Zealand, Morgan replied: "At 33, given I could prove my fitness again, no.
"We have a special group of players at the moment. I feel very lucky to lead that group and I think we can do something even more special down the line."
England have taken five uncapped players to New Zealand with Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler and Jason Roy among those to be rested.
Worcestershire bowler Pat Brown will make his England debut on Friday, while Surrey all-rounder Sam Curran, who has played 11 Tests and two one-day internationals, will make his T20 international debut.
Kent batsman Joe Denly was set to play but has been ruled out after a heavy fall in training, meaning Somerset all-rounder Lewis Gregory is also likely to make his debut.
