The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced December 21 as the date for the commencement of the various Ghanaian national football leagues.
A GFA notice announcing its calendar for the 2019/2020 football season indicates that submission of respective venues and strips of the clubs would be done on Wednesday, November 27, 2019.
The notice further states that the leagues will be launched on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, ahead of kick-off on the weekend of Saturday, December 21, 2019.
The football season is expected to conclude in July 2020, per the GFA notice.
It will be recalled that the 2017/2018 Ghana Premier League season was truncated in June last year following a bribery and match-fixing scandal.
The 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season will feature 18 teams after the GFA Extraordinary Congress increased the number of teams from 16 last month.
The National Women's League and the National Division One League are also expected to start on the same date.
