Forward Daniel Lomotey on Sunday, became the first player to score four goals in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League as WAFA defeated Medeama 5-4 at the Red Bull arena at Sogakope.

WAFA scored four amazing goals in the first 45 minutes of the game to daze the mauves and yellows. Lomotey met a cross from left-back John Tedeku and backheeled the ball into the net for the opening goal as early as the sixth minute of the game.

After the hour mark, striker Godwin Agbevor sublimely put the ball past goalkeeper Eric Antwi with a tap-in effort from close range in the 31st minute.

Seven minutes later Lomotey scored his second goal of the afternoon to made it three-nil in favour of WAFA as they compounded the problems of Medeama SC.

WAFA made a forced substitution before the break as midfielder Lawrence Agyekum got stretchered off and was replaced by Forson Amankwah.

The Academy boys made light of their visitors in the 41st as Agbevor whipped in a cross from the right side for Lomotey to tap in for the fourth goal.

It was a hat-trick on the afternoon for the former Ghana youth international. After the break, Medeama stepped up and were immediately awarded a penalty which was converted by striker Abass Mohammed. Two minutes into the second half, the Mauve and Yellows won a free-kick close to the box and midfielder Rashid Nortey fired past goalkeeper Ferdinand Sabi Acquah.

Nortey struck again from close range to beat goalkeeper Acquah to make it 4-3. With a surprise comeback in sight, WAFA managed turned the tie in their favour as Daniel Lomotey got his fourth of the game in the 80th minute to make it 5-3.

Medeama SC reduced the deficit in the dying embers of the game through Justice Blay as he pulled the trigger with a thunderbolt to make it 5-4.

WAFA remain unbeaten in four home matches in the 2020/21 season as Medeama SC continues to struggle in the ongoing campaign. The Tarkwa side have won only once on the road (1-0) against Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs.
