Ankrah competing in his second Sydney Katz Junior Open after winning the maiden edition of the tournament in the 14 and under category prevailed 6-4 5-7,10-8(tie break) to win at the National Tennis Center, Accra.

Caleb, though, drew first blood, breaking Ankrah’s opening service game 1-0. Momentum shifts would characterize the first set, with Ankrah leading 3-2 and Caleb finding an edge, later on, to break for 4-3. However, Caleb couldn't serve the set out, leaving Ankrah to break right back and take the next two games to close out the set.

Ankrah again fell back in the second set, as Caleb opened a 5-4 lead before going on to secure the set.

Ankrah, after losing the second set, raised his game, and then sailed smoothly through the super tie-break and emerged victorious.

Sisu Tomegah emerged as the ladies champion in the Sydney Katz Junior Open 16 and under category after upsetting No.1 seed Tracy Ampah. Sisu won 4-6, 6-3, and 10-6(tie break).

"I feel really happy that I have finally won. I have lost a lot of matches to Tracy Ampah. Am proud of myself now, after losing the first set, I realized the need to calm down and play as I have been coached which helped me to win this title," Sisu said.

In the boys 14 and under Hanif Boateng, who is in top form, wrapped up a superb week in which he didn’t drop a set, with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Kingsley Danso. Winneba-based Ayidaama Akaguri won the girls 14 under after beating Florence Lamptey of Shishijee sháde 3-6, 6-3, and (7-4).

Angel Bagerbaseh of Winneba won the Girls 12 and under Category after defeating Hephzibah Appiah from Ashaiman 6-3,6-1 while the boys 12 under Isaac Akuaku from Ashaiman outwitted Seth Asenso of 4 Garrison Officer’s Mess tennis club, Kumasi.

It was an all Winneba affair in the Girls 10 and under final as Sugru Akaguri defeated Anna Nyarko 6-3,7-6(3) to win. Joseph Tetteh showed his firm superiority in the boys 10 and under as he defeated Mervin Godson in the final.

Michael Nortey-2005 Ghana Davis Cup player who doubles as the Tournament organizer for Sydney Katz Junior Open said: "I am really happy with the attendance, we are not stopping here, and the Foundation (Michael Nortey Educational and Tennis Foundation) will organize more of such. My team and I are here to give back to Ghana tennis. The Tennis Federation should focus on junior tennis developments because that’s the only way Ghana tennis can develop.
