Garcia praised the Ghanaian for accepting to fight him after several fighters turned him down in his request to comeback from a long lay-off.

Tagoe has been out of the ring for over a year since earning a majority decision win over Mason Menard in November 2020.

His opponent, Garcia, is making a ring return in 15 months since last stopping Luke Campbell in their WBC Interim title in January 2021.

Confirming a WBO world title eliminator fight with Tagoe, the American hard-hitting fighter accused fighters at lightweight of avoiding him when he decided to make his return to the ring.

“I wanna thank Emmanuel tagoe for taking this fight, no one wanted to fight me because they assumed I wouldn’t fight… I respect you and let’s give everyone a fight,” Garcia wrote on Twitter.

The bout with one of the division’s most talented fighter is Tagoe’s second since relocating to the US two years ago and is expected to offer the Ghanaian an opportunity to make a statement if he wins.

Tagoe is rated third by the WBO and a win over Garcia could secure him a shot at George Kambosos Jnr’s lightweight title.
