Viewers on DStv can look forward to seeing one of Africa's top footballers, Cameroonian Andre Onana, chasing UEFA Champions League glory when Internazionale take on Manchester City in the final on Saturday 10 June 2023.
DStv is the only true home of football in Africa, offering a range and depth of action that no other rival can match – it’s literally ‘Unbeatable Football’! If you’re going to spend your money on something, it may as well be on the best football in the world.
One of the main heroes of Inter Milan’s surprise run to the final of the elite European club competition has been Andre Onana. The Cameroonian goalkeeper has been the final line of defence for the Nerazzurri and the orchestrator of their backline, helping the Italian side progress through a difficult group (which included Bayern Munich and Barcelona) before ousting Porto, Benfica and AC Milan in the knockout stages.
Onana has admitted that Interface an uphill battle against Man City, a team which has dominated English football in recent years and is hungry to win the Champions League for the first time in their history.
The Citizens also have the genius of Pep Guardiola at the helm – the Spaniard is rightly regarded as a revolutionary in the game and one of the most influential coaches in football history.
Yet Onana, believes that the Nerazzurri can spring a surprise in the final in Istanbul in Turkey, as the Italian club chases a fourth European Cup/Champions League title, hoping to add to triumphs in 1964, 1965 and 2010.
“We’re up against maybe the best team in the world. They play great football,” admitted Onana. “But it’s a final. We’ll go there [Istanbul] to make history, for ourselves and for Inter.”
The Cameroonian added, “I can’t promise victory, but I can promise that we’ll give everything on the pitch. We have character and personality. We’re facing a difficult match, but I believe that by working together we’ll have our chances. It’s a football match and we’ll give everything to win. Because the finals aren’t played, but rather won.”
Onana, who has over 30 caps for the Cameroon national team under his belt (but is at least temporarily retired from international football), may also be playing his last game for Inter, with the 27-year-old strongly linked with a move to Chelsea in the upcoming European summer transfer window.
