The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) men's and women's hockey teams have both made strong starts to the 2025 Sapholda Greater Accra Hockey League and sit atop their respective divisions one month into the new campaign.
The GRA Men lead the way with maximum 9 points after 3 matches, following their 5-0 drubbing of bottom side, Reformers of Prisons, last Saturday at the Theodosia Okoe Hockey Stadium.
The GRA also beat Legon Knights by the same scoreline in the season's opener on May 3, followed by a hard-fought 3-2 victory over former champions, Ghana Army, on match day 2 on May 17.
Defending champions, Exchequers of the Bank of Ghana, meanwhile, maintained a 100 per cent record from two games after handing Police a first defeat, 2-1, to overtake them in second position with both teams on 6 points.
Police had beaten Army 3-1 and Reformers 2-1 in their opening two matches, whilst Exchequers trashed Reformers 4-1 on match day one before drawing a bye on match day 2.
The University of Ghana, meanwhile, overcame Ark Giants 1-0 to grab their first win to consolidate 4th place on 4 points, while Army and Reformers are at the foot of the table with zero points from 3 games each.
In the women's division which has seen two match days on May 10 and 24 ahead of match day 3 on Saturday, June 7, defending champions, GRA Royal Ladies lead the way once again after outclassing Legon Knights Ladies 10-0 on opening day before holding out for a 2-1 victory over rivals, Extinguishers for a maximum six points.
They next face the Police, who also have maximum points following wins over Extinguishers and Reformers after two matches.
On top of their heels are Army Ladies who have also been victorious in their opening two matches of the 2025 season, 3-0 against Reformers and 1-0 over Legon Knights. On Saturday, they would come up against the Extinguishers of the Bank of Ghana.
