Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has tabbed Ghana’s qualification to the FIFA World Cup for the fifth time in six straight editions as a big achievement.
Otto Addo led Ghana to qualify to the immediate past edition in 2022 and the upcoming edition in 2026 which makes him the first coach in Ghana’s history to qualify the country to the grand tournament on two occasions.
Ghana beat Comoros 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium via a Mohammed Kudus goal in the 47th minute to top Group I and qualify to next year’s World Cup.
Qualifying to the country’s fifth World Cup had the Black Stars get a lot of congratulatory messages including one from FIFA President Gianni Infantino. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
For Otto Addo, making history as the first coach to lead Ghana to the World Cup twice is something that’s a big achievement but one that has a collective feel to it.

“For me, personally, surely its [qualifying to the World Cup twice in a row] a big achievement but for me, to be honest, I think more about us.”

“It’s good for us, for everyone, for every Ghanaian, it’s good for the players, not only for me so this is the most important thing” he said.

Ghana’s best run in the World Cup was in the 2010 edition where the Black Stars reached the quarterfinals.
