In a thrilling showdown at the African Table Tennis Championship in Radès, Tunisia, Ghana’s Cynthia Kwabi overcame a 3–0 deficit to defeat Nigeria’s Ayoola Kabirat in a pulsating 4–3 victory, booking her place in the round of 16.
Kabirat stormed to an early lead, taking the first three games 11–8, 11–9, 11–6, putting Kwabi on the back foot.
However, the Ghanaian rallied impressively, winning the next three 11–5, 11–9, 12–10, leveling the match and setting up a dramatic final game.
In the decider, Kwabi held her nerve to narrowly edge Kabirat 13–11, completing one of the tournament’s most exhilarating comebacks.
Her resilience and composure under pressure thrilled fans at Salle Omnisport de Radès and highlighted her championship potential.
With this win, she sets herself up for a Round of 16 clash against Tunisia’s Saidi Ela.
