The last few years have seen considerable invigoration of trade and economic relations between the two countries. Commodity exchange in 2007 stood at 92.5 million dollars, up 49 per cent from 2006.
The results in 2008 are expected to be even better. In the first nine months of the year, bilateral trade totalled 86.4 million dollars, including 53 million dollars in Bulgarian exports to Egypt and 33.4 million dollars in Bulgarian imports from Egypt.
Bulgarian exports to Egypt include raw tobaccos, wheat and kaolin. Imports from Egypt are dominated by natural calcium phosphates and flat rolled products from iron and coke.
