The United Kingdom and Ireland Branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sent a message of congratulations to Professor John Evans Atta Mills on his election as President-Elect.
"We are delighted that Professor John Evans Atta Mills and his running mate, Mr John Dramani Mahama's many years of devoted service to the cause and development of our dear country Ghana should at last be recognised in this way by the very good people of Ghana," it said in a statement received by GNA in Accra.
It said the growth and success of Ghana was largely dependent on the vision, dedication and the most affable politicians with unblemished reputation both in private and public life, adding that Professor Mills and Mr Mahama had those qualities to take the country to the next level.
The NDC branch called upon Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, unsuccessful presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and supporters of the party to put behind their disappointment, as true patriots of the country, so that Ghana could move forward together as a united nation.
