Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos has called on U.S. President Barack Obama to lift the economic embargo on Cuba, Angola's official news agency ANGOP reported on Friday.
"Honestly I hope that the new U.S. president, who is very sensitive on humanitarian issues, will revoke the economic embargo against Cuba," Angolan President Dos Santos said Thursday evening at the official dinner honouring visiting Cuban leader Raul Castro.
The Cuban leader arrived here on Wednesday evening for a three- day official visit.
"It does not make any sense to sustain the embargo on Cuba, which for almost 50 years has conditioned the life of millions human beings, in blatant violation of the Human Rights," Dos Santos said.
He also reaffirmed the Angolan government's "indefectible" support to the Cuban people in his desire to overcome this serious situation and for the consolidation of his sovereignty and welfare.
He said the Angolan people praise the virtues of the Cuban people, the bravery coherence and dignity and the way they defend their sovereignty and help other people.
