The Awutu-Senya District Assembly on Tuesday confirmed the President's nominee, Mr Nuhun Adams as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, after obtaining 23 out of the 33 votes of the Assembly.
Mr Huhun, 36, a Charted Accountant, polled 69.7 percent of the total votes in the election conducted by the Central Regional Electoral Office, led by the Regional Director, Mr Samuel Tetteh.
Mr Nuhun in his acceptance speech thanked President Atta Mills for nominating him and expressed his gratitude to the assembly members for the trust they have in him.
He assured them that he would not abuse the confidence reposed in him, adding that, with their cooperation he would be able to develop the district.
The Regional Minister, Ms Ama Benyewa Doe commended the Assembly Members for confirming Mr Huhun and called for unity and cooperation to enable the aims and objectives of the district assembly concept to be achieved.
The Regional Minister entreated the assembly members to put aside their political and ethnic sentiments and work hand in hand with the DCE to ensure the development of the area.
Neenyi Abokwade Agyeman Wattey Otabil, Paramount Chief of Awutu Beraku Traditional Area, advised the DCE to be transparent and approachable to enable him to succeed in his work.
He stressed the need for the people of the area to rally behind the DCE towards the development of the district and appealed to the DCE not "to hesitate in bringing people to book if the need arises".
Mr Kwesi Esseku, Presiding Member of the Assembly on behalf of members pledged their readiness to cooperate with the DCE toward the socio-economic development of the district.
