The New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Alex Asamoah, has cautioned against hijacking of management of public toilets in the municipality until the assembly reviews its decision on the privatization of those facilities.
He stated "until the assembly reviews its decision on the privatization of the toilets, it would be illegal for anyone or group of people to stage what amounts to a palace coup of the management of the toilets."
Mr Asamoah, who said this during his sessional address at the first ordinary meeting of the third session of the assembly in Koforidua on Wednesday, urged the assembly members to ensure that the directive was complied with.
He said following problems regarding some forced takeovers of the management of public toilets when notices were given on the expiry of the various agreements, the assembly had put in place interim measures to forestall any mishap until the procurement processes were completed.
On sanitation, Mr Asamoah urged the assembly to consider contracting Zoomlion for the management of the entire 33 container sites in respect of solid waste since the current situation where Zoomlion was managing 22 and the assembly 11 was not helping the finances of the assembly.
He said that would also enable the assembly to concentrate on other areas such as Jumapo, Suhyen, Asikasu and other parts of Koforidua, for the removal of mountains of solid waste and improvement of deplorable state of the final disposable site.
