Mr Kwadwo Adjei-Dwomoh, Nkoranza North District Chief Executive, has urged parents to reduce expenses on social events.
Instead, he advised parents to use their resources to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme to enable them and their children access health care delivery.
Addressing the chiefs and people of Boana and Domeabra in the district at separate fora, Mr Adjei-Dwomoh described the scheme as a "welfare club" and advised those who had not yet registered or renewed their cards to do so.
He appealed to assembly members, unit committees, traditional and religious leaders to continue to educate people about the importance of the scheme to increase its membership.
The DCE announced that the Nkoranza District Assembly would break away from the central scheme at Nkoranza to operate the scheme independently.
He said in spite of the enormous benefits of the scheme, membership was still low.
At Boana, Mr Michael Obour, former Assemblyman of the area commended the government for helping to extend electricity to some rural communities.
He said the people had decided to start a Junior High School in the area to save students from travelling long distances to attend school.
Mr Obour appealed to the district assembly to provide 100 bags of cement and five bundles of roofing sheets to complete the school project.
