Togolese President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, arrived in Accra on Tuesday for a two-day official visit to Ghana during which he would hold bilateral talks with his host President John Evans Atta Mills on strengthening relations.
The Togolese leader was received at the Kotoka International Airport by President Mills, who was accompanied by Vice Mr John Dramani Mahama, some Ministers of State, and Members of the Diplomatic Corps.
Nine-year-old Emmanuel Ababio of Norre Preparatory School at Asylum Down in Accra, presented a bouquet of flowers to the Togolese leader to welcome him.
President Gnassingbé inspected a guard of honour mounted by a detachment of the Ghana Armed Forces and was given a 21-gun salute.
The Togolese leader is expected to visit some industrial and energy project sites.
During his visit, the Togolese President and his delegation would hold bilateral discussions with President John Atta Mills on a number of issues including the strengthening of ties, cross border concerns, trade and energy.
President Gnassingbé would visit the Akosombo Hydroelectric Dam, the Asogli Power Project site at Kpone near Tema, and a tuna processing factory in Tema.
He would also pay courtesy calls on former presidents Jerry Rawlings and John Kufuor.
The Togolese leader is the third President to visit Ghana since the inauguration of President Mills last January.
The first two Presidents were Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of Liberia and Barack Obama of the United States of America.
