The Akim Oda-based John Mahama Fund Club (JMFC) in Birim Central Municipality, on Friday congratulated President John Dramani Mahama and the people of Ghana for the peaceful, fair, transparent and violent-free elections.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region, Mr Yaw Osei, Chairman of the Club, remarked that the December 7 polls demonstrated the people of Ghana’s commitment to democracy.
Mr Osei noted that it was only a social democratic political party like the National Democratic Congress that could alleviate the suffering of Ghanaians, adding, the club has the conviction that the government would continue with its social and human-centered intervention policies.
The Chairman said JMFC is proud to be associated with a committed, honest and hard working personality like President Mahama.
Mr Osei said the ECOWAS Observation Mission and other observers account on the just ended December 7, 2012 general election testified that the country's democracy has come of age.
Mr Henry Bright Acquah, Secretary of the Club, noted that the President’s victory in the polls attested of his acceptance by the electorate.
Mr Acquah observed that President Mahama was the best person to lead the nation due to his qualities as a unifier and ability to appeal to floating voters.
The Secretary said the President is a God-fearing and a grassroot figure with a commanding disposition to partner Mr Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur as Vice President.
Mr Richard Dorgbefu, Financial Secretary said the club established in February 20, 2009 with current membership of 350 had provided an effective, inclusive forum for sharing and collaborating ideas to sustain the progress of the body.
"The club has also kept its objective and promise to rally behind President John Dramani Mahama in his quest to be the President of the Republic," he said.
