The foreign ministers from the member states of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) met in Libreville on Friday to evaluate the prevailing situation in the Central African Republic.
Foreign ministers from the 10-nation ECCAS during the meeting agreed to dispatch more troops of the Central African Multinational Force (FOMAC) to the Central African Republic.
The ministerial meeting is also being used to make preparations for the extraordinary summit of the regional heads of state and government which is also scheduled to take place in Libreville.
The Central African Republic's government is currently threatened by the advancing fighters of a coalition of rebel groups calling itself "Seleka."
After having seized all the major towns in the north-eastern parts of the country in early December, the rebel coalition is approaching Bangui, the Central African Republic's capital.
