The Upper West Regional Communication Team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed its gratitude to the people of the region for supporting the Party to defeat the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
It said the massive endorsement of President John Dramani Mahama and the Party's Parliamentary Candidates was not only a clear manifestation of the unprecedented development projects undertaken by the NDC in its first four-year term but also marked the beginning of the end of NPP in the region in subsequent elections.
The NPP won three parliamentary seats in the Upper West Region in 2008 but lost all to the NDC in the 2012 general elections.
The Communication Team said this in a press statement issued and signed by Mr. Abdul-Rahman Osman, Convener of the Regional Communication Team, to congratulate President John Dramani Mahama for winning the 2012 general elections.
The statement said the victory of President Mahama was anchored on his truthfulness, humility, steadfastness, tolerance and the will of God among others, adding that they the youth were fortunate to have a living example to emulate.
The statement also thanked the over five million Ghanaians who reposed their confidence in President Mahama and the "Better Ghana Agenda" and assured them that the President and his team would work to fulfil all the pledges in the NDC manifesto to create a better Ghana for all.
The statement also thanked President Mahama for nominating Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemana, MP elect for Sissala West Constituency and the Regional Minister as Roads and Highways Minister.
The statement appealed to the President to still let his mercies fall on the region by considering many sons and daughters of the region for appointment into his government.
The statement appealed to the President to nominate people who he felt would serve the interest of the people and not people who would only come to satisfy themselves.
