YouTube has announced that it now supports 4K live-streaming in both 360-degree and standard video formats. In a statement the company said creators and partners can immediately start streaming 4K-resolution video, with four times more image definition than 1080p video, to be viewed on compatible devices. To showcase the possibilities of the new format, the Google-owned company is partnering with The Game Awards to live stream the entire show at 9pm EST on 01 December.
The launch of the 4K live-streaming service comes just a few weeks after YouTube introduced high dynamic range (HDR) video support and a couple of months after Google unveiled the Chromecast Ultra, a 4K version of its streaming device.
