Google has acquired the Seattle start-up Senosis Health, a developer of apps that help collect critical health information with smartphones, people familiar with the deal told GeekWire.com. Senosis's apps include SpiroSmart, SpiroCall, HemaApp and OsteoApp, which use the sensors on a smartphone to collect information such as pulmonary functioning and hemoglobin counts in order to help diagnose medical conditions.
Senosis was in the process of raising its first round of venture capital financing when the acquisition talks started. No details on the takeover price were known. The company was started by researchers from the University of Washington.
