A District Magistrate's Court at Winneba, has remanded a 55-year-old farmer into prison custody for defrauding five people of Ghc 12,350.00.
Kojo Addae pleaded guilty, and the court presided over by Charles Owusu Nsiah deferred sentence when Addae pleaded to the court to allow him to sell his building to defray the amount.
The court ordered him to re-appear before the court on 18th March, 2013.
Police Detective Sergeant Peter Aybelie told the court that the complainants were Joseph Amonoo, Emmanuel Martey, Jeff A.B. Impriam, Joseph Bright Kofi Ntsiful and Bright Brew, residing in Winneba and Gomoa Pomadze respectively.
The prosecution said between July 2011 and August 2012, the accused received Ghc 2,100.00 from Amonoo, Ghc 1,750.00 from Martey, Ghc 3,500.00 from Impriam, Ghc 2,800.00 from Ntsiful and Ghc 2,000.00 from Brew and sold land at Gomoa Pomadze to them.
Sgt. Aybelie said the accused after receiving the monies took the complainants to various locations at Pomadze and allotted plots of land to them.
He said the complainants later realized that those plots of land had already been sold and decided to take their monies back.
Sgt Aybelie said the complainants made efforts to take their monies back to no avail.
