The Tema office of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) recorded 333 criminal cases in the first quarter of this year.
The office oversees the operations of the Tema Unit, Ashaiman Station, Tema Newtown, Sakumono, Dodowa and Ada.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rebecca Nyamah, the Tema DOVVSU Co-ordinator, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview on Thursday that Ashaiman recorded the highest number of the cases.
She gave the breakdown of the 333 criminal cases as 142 for the Ashaiman Station, 40 for Dodowa, 21 from Ada, 19 and 17 from Tema Newtown and Tema respectively while seven were also received by the Sakumono.
DSP Nyamah said the cases reported included assault, stealing, rape, attempted abortion, criminal abortion,defilement, abduction and child trafficking.
Others were threat of harm, attempted rape and abandonment of children as well as insulting behaviour,unlawful entry and offensive conduct.
