The government in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport has handed over facilities of the former Institute of Ghanaian language at Ajumako to the authorities of the University of Education Winneba.
The Vice chancellor of the University, Professor Akwasi Asabere-Ameyaw said this at the 16th Matriculation ceremony during which 1,882 fresh students were admitted to the University to undertake various degrees and diplomas at the university in Winneba.
Professor Asabere-Ameyaw therefore expressed gratitude to the government and the ministry and was optimistic that this will strengthen the already cordial relationship between the UEW and the Ghana Education Service.
He renewed his appeal to the two authorities to equally hand over to the University, the Winneba Sport College that is at the same campus of the University.
The VC made a passionate appeal to the government and all those who desire for rapid socio-.economic development of the country to come to the aid of the university in its efforts to expand campuses and facilities.
Professor Asabere-Ameyaw said the University is conscious that its students function competitively and effectively on the global market and continue to ensure improvement in the quality and relevance of its academic programme.
"We would continue to improve on the learning environment on all the campuses to minimize the stress usually associated with university education".
On behalf of the University, Professor Asabere-Ameyaw expressed thanks to the GET Fund and the government for the assistance so far given to the University to expand facilities.
