Madam Sandra Seyram Kpedor, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Anloga in the Volta Region, has performed a groundbreaking exercise for the construction of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound and two semi-detached bungalows at Agorve.
The project is expected to bring quality healthcare services closer to the people of Agorve electoral area and its surrounding communities.
The DCE, during the sod cutting ceremony held at Agorve disclosed that the CHPS compound would enable provide much-needed healthcare services to the communities and help reduce the distance residents travel to access medical care.
“The current place where our health workers are operating at now is someone residents, and we need to provide a smooth and conducive environment for both our patients and health workers to operate at Agorve electoral area,” she said.
She explained that the construction of the CHPS compound and bungalows was part of the broader efforts by the government to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve access to quality health services for every community.
He reiterated that government is committed to the initiative for quality healthcare and the well-being of the people.
She stressed that the CHPS compound when completed would provide a range of healthcare services, including maternal and child health care, treatment of common illnesses, and health education while the facility would also serve as a hub for outreach services to take healthcare to the doorsteps of the people.
“So far we have also cut sod at Dzita for construction of a CHPS compound. The Agorve CHPS compound will take a maximum of six months or less, and the funding is solely from the District Assembly Common Fund,” she said.
Madam Kpedor noted that the two semi-detached bungalows would provide accommodation for health worker, to ensure they were readily available to serve the communities.
This would help address the challenge of health worker shortages and ensure that the communities had access to quality healthcare services at all the time.
She said the government had been working very hard to improve healthcare delivery across the country, and the construction of the CHPS compound in the communities including that of Dzita and Agorve were part of the efforts, demonstrating the commitment exhibited so far by government.
The DCE urged the people of Agorve and the surrounding communities to support the project, saying “your cooperation will ensure success of the works, to you our health workers, I urge you to be committed to your duties and continue to provide quality services to the communities.”
She emphasised that the construction of the CHPS compound and bungalows would be a significant development for the community, and its impact would be felt for years to come to ensure the progress and development of these areas.
Mr James Fiati, the Assembly Member for the Agorve Electoral Area, expressed his gratitude to the government for prioritising the project and mentioned that the CHPS compound would make a significant difference in the lives of the people by improving their health and well-being.
He said the people of Agorve and its surrounding communities had welcomed the project, which would bring the much-needed relief to their communities.
He thanked Madam Kpedor, the DCE and the government for the initiative, which would improve the access to quality healthcare services.
Some other residents the Ghana News Agency engaged expressed excitement over the project and stated that the construction of the CHPS compound and bungalows would an equipped facility with modern equipment and more qualified health professionals for quality healthcare delivery.
The Ghana News Agency further gathered that the site for the project had recently received GH? 20,000 support from Mr Richard Kwame Sefe, the Member of Parliament of the area, to acquire land for the construction of the CHPS Compound.
