Sulemana Mohammed, a teacher and Teye Emmanuel a carpenter, on Wednesday, appeared before the Kade District Magistrate court charged with unlawful entry and stealing mobile phones, other items and cash, totalling GH¢824.
They pleaded not guilty and were remanded in prison custody until April 27.
The court issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Danladi Mohammed, an accomplice, now on the run.
Police Inspector Francis Cobbina, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Kwaku Baah Frimpong, that the two accused persons were friends staying at Kade Zongo.
He said on the night of March 9, they broke into the shops of Isaac Brefo and Stephen Nyarko and stole mobile phones, a DVD deck, and other items including cash of GH¢140.
The prosecutor said when the theft was discovered, a report was made to the police and assistance was sought from mobile phone dealers and repairers to help track down the thieves.
He said on March 30, the accused persons went to a mobile phone repair shop to repair one of the stolen phones.
The prosecutor said the repairer immediately identified the phone as one of the stolen ones and informed one of the complainants who proceeded to the shop with a policeman.
The accused persons were then arrested, while Mohammed managed to escape.
Their rooms were searched and one charger belonging to one of the complainants which was one of the stolen items was retrieved.
During investigations, a witness also produced a Motorola charger which Teye Emmanuel had sent to him for sale and it was identified by Nyarko as his.
After Police investigations, the accused were charged with the offence.
