The maiden General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana held in Ho between August 19 and 22, this year has resolved to strengthen the Church's management structures and practices, including its financial reporting.
It also decided to enhance biblical teaching in the Church to raise morals of members.
A nine-point communiqué released to the media on Tuesday by George Ohene-Agbehali, Administrative Assistant at the EP Church also called for the reactivation of the Church's dormant "foundation fund".
The Assembly split the West Volta Presbytery of the Church into two, one headquartered in Accra and the other in Cape Coast.
Rt Rev Francis Amenu, Moderator of the Church in an address called for a crusade against youth waywardness, crime, drug abuse and general indiscipline in the country.
He also criticised self-centredness, among some leaders of the church as well as the poor management practices at different levels of the church's structures.
Rt Rev Amenu listed enhanced leadership and human resource development, holistic education and theological scholarship, pro-active evangelism and sustainable welfare schemes as some major programme objectives of the church in the coming years.
He said the church would also reactivate its businesses and projects to overcome its "appalling financial standing".
Rev Godwin K. Osiakwa, Clerk of the General Assembly told the GNA on the eve of the Assembly that the church had beefed up its hospitality businesses opened a pharmaceutical shop and could possibly go into fuel distribution.
Vice President John Mahama, who was guest of honour at the Thanksgiving Service, observed that leadership was a divine imposition, which required leaders to serve their people and not to lord it over them.
Twenty-Five commissioned priests, including five women were formally robed to climax the General Assembly.
The Assembly also awarded 10 Junior High School leavers for good performances in the BECE exams.
The various schools under the EP Educational Unit including Sokode-Gborgame, Kadjebi-Central, Dodi-Papase, Muwuli in Ho, and Leklebi -Dafor primaries were also awarded.
Sixteen private individuals and institutions including Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbome Fia of Asogli and President of the Volta Regional House of chiefs and Dr Ben Glover, Proprietor of Hotel Cisneros at Sogakope were also honoured.
