The death toll from a nightclub fire in the Ural city of Perm has risen to 112, the regional emergencies ministry said on Sunday.
"The number of people killed in the tragedy has reached 112 after another woman died of severe burns in a hospital," the emergencies service
said.
A blaze sparked by indoor fireworks ripped through the Lame House nightclub overnight to Saturday as about 230 people celebrated the venue's
eighth anniversary. Many of the victims suffocated or were crushed at the club's single exit, officials said.
Nearly 100 of the over 130 people injured in the fire were sent to Russia's top hospitals in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Chelyabinsk in the
Urals.
Some 26 people in grave though stable condition were staying at Perm hospitals, the emergencies service said.
The owner and manager of the nightclub, together with three other workers, have been detained on charges of causing loss of live by breaching fire safety regulations.
Russia's regional prosecutors have been instructed to organize urgent nationwide inspections of public gathering venues to avoid a repeat of the incident.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has declared Monday a day of national mourning for the dead.
