National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has urged residents of Ayawaso East to turn out in large numbers to vote for the party’s parliamentary candidate, Baba Ali Yussif, in the March 3 by-election.
Addressing constituents, Nana B described Baba Ali as a grassroots candidate who understands the needs of the people, having lived and worked in the constituency for several years.
He said Baba Ali is best suited to represent Ayawaso East in Parliament because he is well acquainted with the challenges confronting the area and will effectively articulate their concerns at the national level.
“Baba Ali Yussif is your brother. He sleeps with you, he wakes up with you, he has taught in this constituency before. He was born here, the food you all eat is the same food he eats.
“Don’t bring in any stranger. This is your brother. As you see him here, even after you vote for him, he will still be here, available and with you,” he said in pidgin.

Nana B further criticised the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the party of engaging in vote-buying and vote-selling during its constituency primary.
He maintained that Baba Ali is not selective and would ensure that every resident benefits from opportunities and development initiatives that may come to the constituency.
The Electoral Commission will on Tuesday, March 3, hold a by-election in the Ayawaso East Constituency following the death of MP, Nasser Toure Mahama, in January.
Baba Ali is facing a strong contest from NDC’s Baba Jamal, who left his post as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria to contest the seat.
