Ho, the Volta regional capital will host the 2025 National Farmers Day, Mr Eric Opoku, the Minister of Food and Agriculture has announced.
He said this year’s farmers day celebration scheduled for Friday December 5, 2025, would also recognize and award churches actively engaged in agriculture to motivate others to do the same.
Mr Opoku therefore urged churches to leverage on the government’s interventions and engage in farming to tackle food insufficiency in the country.
He said: “We want every church to own a farm and to address national food insufficiency,” asking Ghanaians to also capitalize on the Feed Ghana programme to engage in farming too.
Mr Opoku gave the advice when speaking at a dedication service of the Apostles’ Continuation Church International (ACCI) in Sunyani on the theme: “Except the Lord Build the House”.
The Reverend Rexford Kwame Owusu, in-charge of the ACCI built and dedicated the “Apostle Clement Brakatu church auditorium” in honour of Apostle Clement Brakatu, the Chairman of the ACCI.
Mr Opoku said with the introduction of the Feed Ghana programme, the government expected every Ghanaian to actively engage in backyard gardening and to improve household food sufficiency.
He added: “If all citizens participate in farming, then there will be abundant food in the country. If we rear locally-bred fowls, there will be no need to import chicken.”
