Unilever Ghana PLC has officially launched its “Do The 2” campaign through its Pepsodent brand, calling on Ghanaians to adopt the simple habit of brushing their teeth twice a day: morning and night.
The initiative was unveiled on Wednesday, March 18, at the forecourt of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, as part of activities marking World Oral Health Day 2026.

Speaking at the launch, Managing Director for Unilever, Chris Wulff-Caesar, described the campaign as a national call to action aimed at improving preventive oral health practices.
“We have brought everyone together today for a very important reason-to mark World Oral Health Day and officially launch the Pepsodent ‘Do The 2’ campaign here in Ghana,” he said. “It is a simple but powerful message: brush twice a day, morning and night.”
He stressed that oral health education must go beyond products and become a sustained behavioural change effort.
“Through Pepsodent, we have championed oral health awareness in Ghana for more than 25 years. Our work has extended far beyond products into education, free dental screenings, and community outreach initiatives,” he noted.

Highlighting the urgency of the campaign, he pointed to worrying statistics on oral health in the country.
“Studies indicate that 13% of middle school children aged 9 to 16 in Ghana suffer from dental caries: a condition that is largely preventable,” he said. “At the same time, access to professional dental care remains limited, with approximately one dentist serving over 58,000 people.”
According to him, these gaps make prevention and early education critical.
“This means that education and prevention must remain at the center of our efforts. We need to reach people not just in cities, but in remote districts and communities across Ghana,” he added.
Mr. Wulff-Caesar also emphasized the importance of partnerships in achieving nationwide impact, particularly with the Ghana Health Service.
“The Ghana Health Service has one of the widest and most trusted healthcare networks in the country. Through this partnership, we are able to integrate oral health education into existing community health outreach programmes,” he said.
Providing updates on implementation, he revealed that the programme is already making progress on the ground.
“I am particularly pleased to note that this collaboration is already actively underway, with 1,500 frontline health workers trained to support early identification of dental issues and provide preventive guidance within communities,” he stated.
He added that the initiative will scale significantly in the coming months.
“By the end of the training programme, we will be empowering over 5,000 dedicated health workers who will help extend oral health education beyond traditional dental clinics and into homes and communities,” he said.
The Managing Director also highlighted the campaign’s focus on children and long-term habit formation.
“Our commitment continues strongly through our schools’ programme, where we work with teachers, health professionals, and partners to educate children about proper brushing habits,” he explained. “When children learn these practices early, they carry them throughout their lives and often influence their families and communities as well.”
Beyond health, he noted that the campaign incorporates environmental sustainability.
“We are also integrating sustainability into our initiatives. Through our recycling programme, we encourage consumers to return used toothpaste tubes, which are then repurposed into chairs and tables donated to schools that need them,” he said.
He concluded with a call for collective responsibility in improving oral health outcomes nationwide.
“Ultimately, improving oral health in Ghana requires strong partnerships — between government institutions, healthcare professionals, educators, communities, and responsible private sector organisations,” he said.
Urging Ghanaians to embrace the campaign message, he added: “Brush your teeth twice a day — morning and night. Do The 2. Together, we can build healthier smiles and healthier communities across Ghana.”
