LeBron James admitted during a new interview that he and his wife Savannah don't have a "picture perfect" marriage all the time
James noted that he and Savannah, his high school sweetheart, have lived together for over 20 years
The NBA star said the key to making it work is communication, being honest and being okay with being uncomfortable at times
LeBron James spoke candidly about how he and his wife Savannah make their marriage work, admitting that their relationship isn't "picture perfect" all the time.
LeBron, 40, opened up about about his marriage to his high school sweetheart during an episode of the 360 with Speedy podcast, released Thursday, Sept. 18. The NBA star, who shares three kids with Savannah, 39, told host Speedy Morman, "I'm gonna be honest, a relationship is never picture perfect."
The Lakers star explained that all relationships, even one depicted as "perfect" in the public eye, requires work from both people. "If you’re okay with working through the hardships and the adverse moments, then it will make it all worth it," LeBron said.
"We’ve been together since high school, so, s--- ain't always gonna be a bed of roses, in any relationship, let alone someone you're living with for over 20 years," he continued.

"Being honest is number two," he continued, "and number three is, like, you have to be okay with being uncomfortable in relationships sometimes and you can't always have it your way, it's not gonna work that way."
The father of three then joked about the phrase "Happy wife, happy life" being "real" and began, "Happy husband...," as he pondered a similar phrase that would apply.
"Happy husband, happy loving," Morman suggested, which earned LeBron's approval.
LeBron and Savannah are parents to sons "Bronny" James Jr., 20, and Bryce Maximus, 18, and daughter Zhuri Nova, 10.
