Two Marvel shows, X-Men ’97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, have received some big updates.
Marvel Studios’ X-Men ’97 premiered on the Disney+ streaming service in March 2024. A revival of X-Men: The Animated Series, the show was created by Beau DeMayo. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, meanwhile, arrived in January 2025. That Marvel Animation series is created by Jeff Trammell and explores Peter Parker’s early days as Spider-Man. Both shows are set in alternative timelines from the main MCU.
Per Variety, it has been announced that X-Men ’97 Season 2 will premiere in the summer of 2026. Additionally, the show has now been officially renewed for Season 3.
“A trailer shown in the room to [New York] Comic Con attendees showed the return of the evil mutant Apocalypse and the X-Men characters scattered across time,” the article notes. “The heroes, like Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Jubilee, Nightcrawler, and more, must find their way back to the 1990s after being lost in the past and future.”
Variety also reports that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 arrives in the fall of 2026. A trailer for that was also shown at New York Comic Con (neither trailer has been released online as of yet), where it was revealed that Venom and Charlie Cox’s Daredevil will be part of the show’s next entry.
“The trailer revealed that Season 2 will introduce the Venom symbiote, Gwen Stacy and bring back Charlie Cox’s Daredevil,” the article states. “It also showed the returns of Norman and Harry Osborn, villains like Doctor Octopus, Chameleon, and Scorpion, and the emergence of Nico Minoru’s magical powers.”
Both X-Men ’97 Season 1 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 1 are available to watch on the Disney+ streaming service at this time.
