A mason who sneaked into a trader's shop and allegedly stole a purse containing a cash of GHc150.00 has been convicted by a Magistrate Court at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region.
Issifu Dadzie admitted the offence and would serve a three-year term imprisonment.
Police Inspector Kwaku Appiah told the court presided over by Mr. Albert Owusu Annor, that the complainant, Madam Mercy Essiful lives at Akim Oda while the accused lives at Akim Akroso in the Birim Central Municipality.
He stressed that on April 20, this year, Madam Essiful left her shop in the care of her daughter in order to collect an item from home.
When the accused witnessed her absence, he entered the shop.
Inspector Appiah said while in the shop, Dadzie and through threats cowed Madam Essiful's daughter in submission as he searched the shop and found a purse in a bag which contained GHc150.00.
He said when the accused was returning from the kiosk, an outsider who was watching Dadzie's movement in the shop, confronted him but Dadzie took to his heels.
Inspector Appiah said the man, also a witness in the case, shouted for help resulting in the pursuit and arrest of Dadzie and later handed over to the police.
