Mr mike Hammah, Minister of Transport, has appealed to the people of Effutu constituency to weed their surroundings and desilt chocked gutters to ensure free flow of water and prevent flooding.
Mr Hammah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu Constituency, said this when he went round to inspect some roads and assess the damages caused by the June 20 floods in the municipality especially from Sankro Junction to Nsuakyere.
The MP, accompanied by Nii Ephriam, Municipal Chief Executive and Mr Robert Quartey, Municipal Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) also paid a courtesy call on the chief and elders of Nsuakyere.
He assured the people of rehabilitating the portions of the road that were destroyed in due course to avoid further damage.
Mr Hammah urged the Municipal NADMO Co-ordinator to assess the cost and forward it to him so he could assist the victims.
He recommended to the Ministry of Roads and Highways to cover future culverts and gutters to prevent people from throwing refuse into them
thereby preventing water to flow.
Mr Hammah called on officials of the Town and Country Planning Department to issue development permits to people who intended to build rather than approving their building plans.
He said this would enable the Department to withdraw such permits and sanction applicants when they did not adhere to laid down regulation and rules.
