Two robbers, who shot and wounded a businessman during a raid on his house at Ejura, have been sentenced to a total of 130 years imprisonment in hard labour by a Kumasi Circuit Court.
Alim Yaao Dawuda, 27, and Mohammed Yussif, 22, denied the offence and would each serve 65 years.
A third person standing trial with them, Monzil Alhassan, was, however, freed for lack of evidence.
Mr Oware Osei Kyere, a State Attorney, told the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Amoh-Yartey that the incident happened on May 26, last year, at about 0130 hours.
The victim, Robert Kandoh, was rudely woken from his sleep by a gunshot followed by a big bang on the door to his room and the barking of
instructions to open the door, which he refused.
This angered the convicts, who fired at the lock and succeeded to knock it down.
The prosecution said Dawuda and Yussif then ordered the victim to surrender all the money he had on him or risked being shot dead.
To save his life, he asked the wife to give GH�680.00 they had on them to the robbers.
The State Attorney said dissatisfied with the size of their booty, Dawuda and Yussif shot at Kandoh, hitting him in the leg and the right palm.
He was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where he was kept on admission at the Intensive Care Unit for more than one month.
The convicts were identified by the victim after their arrest in a police swoop.
