The Interior Minister has on the advice of the Upper East Regional Security Council, and by Executive Instrument, renewed for a week the curfew imposed on the Bawku Municipality and its environs.
A statement signed by Mr Martin A.B.K. Amidu in Accra said it took effect from Monday, July 26, and the curfew hours remained at 10:00 pm to
5:00am each day.
The statement said: "Government continues to urge the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth and the people to exercise restraint to ensure that sustainable peace returns to their communities".
Government reiterated that there was a ban on all persons in the Bawku Municipality and its immediate environs - Zabugu, Binduri, Pusiga and Zoasi from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons and any person found violating the directive would be arrested and prosecuted.
