A total of 301.5 kg of cocaine was seized in two police operations in the Argentine provinces of Salta and Mendoza, according to reports published on Monday.
The police said 263 kg of cocaine was seized Saturday during an operation in the northern province of Salta, in which they also detained four people.
The four detainees and another who escaped belonged to an organized drug trafficking gang, they said.
According to the police, the criminals had intended to transport the drugs some 1,500 km from Salta to Buenos Aires to be shipped to Spain.
The police said they also seized 38.5kg of cocaine with high purity in a separate operation in the western province of Mendoza. Six were detained in the operation, among them two women, they said.
They did not disclose the date of the Mendoza operation.
