Taiwan-based electronics assembler Foxconn Technology Group said Thursday it was cooperating with Chinese authorities over bribery allegations against its executives.
Foxconn procurement managers were alleged to have taken bribes from Chinese suppliers in return for contracts, Taiwan's weekly magazine Next reported Wednesday.
"We can confirm that we are working with law enforcement officials who we brought in to work with our own internal audit team as part of an investigation into allegations against a number of Foxconn employees related to illegal payments from a supply chain partner," the company said Thursday.
"Since the matter is under investigation, we are not able to comment further."
One manager was detained by Chinese authorities in the southern city of Shenzhen in September, the Next report said.
Up to a dozen Foxconn employees were suspected of involvement, the China Times reported, citing unidentified sources.
The company said it was conducting a full review of procurement procedures and ethics among managers.
Foxconn is the largest electronics manufacturer in the world, building products for Apple Inc, Hewlett Packard Co, and Sony Corp.
