Member of Parliament for Tano North, Gideon Boako, has dismissed claims that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia should not be given another chance to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) because he lost the 2024 presidential election.
His response comes after some factions within the party, particularly from the camps of other flagbearer aspirants, argued that Bawumia’s defeat disqualified him from being considered again as the party’s flagbearer.
Speaking on the Citi Eyewitness News on Thursday, August 28, the MP who serves as the Technical Advisor and a Spokesperson to Dr Bawumia underscored that losing one election should not define a politician’s future.
Citing current President John Dramani Mahama and other former presidents, he maintained that defeat has never been the end for determined leaders.
Boako emphasised that rather than discouraging Dr. Bawumia, the NPP should rally behind him, as persistence has historically paved the way for great leaders in Ghana’s political history.
