Daniel Martey Addo, lawyer for Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bono Regional Chairman, has confirmed that his client’s deteriorating health was the main factor that led to the court granting him bail.
On Monday, September 15, the court granted Abronye bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 with one surety. His remand period, which was initially set for one week from September 12, was also shortened to the new date.
Confirming the decision, Lawyer Addo explained that the ruling came as a relief to both the legal team and Abronye’s family due to his health challenges.
Speaking in an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Eyewitness News on September 15, he said:
“It was solely based on the health condition of my client. That was the only thing I was putting before the court. I was impressing upon the court that the health condition of my client was deteriorating, my Lord, please grant him my prayer and abridge time.”
Abronye DC had been remanded on Friday, September 12, on charges of offensive conduct conducive to a breach of public peace.
Police said his arrest on September 8, 2025, was linked to comments he made in public, including allegations against the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the ruling party, which were deemed potentially inflammatory.
