Former Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, Dr Dickson Adomako Kissi, has called for urgent retraining and stricter discipline within Ghana’s security agencies following the alleged armed raid and alleged abduction at the Kwahu Traditional Council Palace at Abene on Monday.
The incident, which occurred around 4 a.m. on November 17, has triggered widespread concern about impersonation within the security services and the potential risks it poses to national stability.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Tuesday, November 18, Dr Adomako Kissi stressed that both the public and security institutions must be properly educated to prevent such occurrences.
“The security service needs to educate the public more, and then they, the police themselves, need some retraining, especially when you are dealing with paramount related things,” he said.
He warned that the absence of discipline and proper oversight could embolden individuals to hide behind state institutions to commit crimes, putting the entire country at risk.
“Eventually, the President will be home, and any security personnel will work in the house and arrest him, and if we do not instil discipline in our system, it will endanger the country. When it is not checked, people can work under the guise and do things in the name of national security,” he added.
