The Minority caucus in Parliament is demanding the immediate prosecution of officials at the Ministry of Transport for allegedly overspending about GHS10 million from its 2025 budget without parliamentary approval.
The caucus argues that, though Parliament sanctioned GHS83 million for the ministry’s capital expenditure, the ministry overspent by GHS10 million, a breach of the Public Financial Management Act.
Contributing to the debate on the ministry’s 2026 budget estimate, the Minority insisted that accountability is required and that heads must roll.
“Has anybody been sent to the OSP. They came here to talk about the PFM act. Mr Speaker it is clear that many of you are likely to go to jail. From what I am seeing, from year one alone.
“Mr Speaker there must be a full enquiry into this matter. How they spent in excess of almost GHS10 million. Mr Speaker the minority is demanding enquiry into why they spent in excess.”
